Dr. Joel E Max

Based on the reviews, I almost didn't schedule an apt here, however, I was desperate to be seen. I was scheduled with Dr. Max to look at a spot on my nose (Previous derm dr said it was a pimple. I didn't agree). Without me having to ask, he took a biopsy. He was friendly and nice, made sure I was comfortable during the biopsy. Answered my questions and didn't make me feel rushed. Very happy to have given him a try. Also, the front desk ladies are fantastic!

the most experienced , compasionate and friendly dermatologist I ever seen , Friendly staff . Saved my wife's life by excising an early melanoma !!! and my basal cell . Professional and thorough .Many thanks Dr Maxx

This man is living proof that one only needs to know 2 things to be a dermatologist; if it's wet make it dry and if it's dry make it wet. A shallow, uncompassionate, poor excuse of a doctor.

Dr. Max has zero bedside manners. He's cold, disinterested & does a half-a$$Ed examination. I had a 9:15 AM appointment and waited over an hour for him to arrive. I was there for a full body exam and had a list of skin conditions I needed to discuss with him from previous diagnoses. I'm a fair skinned, freckled redhead - literally his target market, and with all if that, he spent less than 10 minutes with me and left. I highly recommend that you find someone else.

The doctor spent exactly 5 minutes with me I couldn’t believe he barely looked at my body (skin cancer screening) and then he offered me cosmetics products. They are more worried about making money than checking their patients. Waisted my time!

Dr. Max took 5 minutes to “check” my entire body; I have had great experiences with dermatologist but since I moved to Timonium I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Max. He was more concerned about cosmetics products than my screening exam. Never again!

Dr Max may not be the warmest, friendliest person, but my experiences with him have been cordial and professional. I’m not there to make friends. More important to me is that the office respects that my time is valuable and they don’t overbook. I’ve never waited more than a few minutes to be seen; and that, to me, is huge.

He knows dermatology. Short waiting times.

Dr. Max changed my life. He has been my dermatologist for years, and I'm so glad some family members recommended him to me. He is the first dermatologist who has been able to permanently and effectively treat my severe acne and cystic acne, and he's done such a good job that friends, family, even my doctor is surprised I even had the condition. It has made a big difference on my whole quality of life. If you're looking for the best dermatologist I've ever seen in my life, go to Dr. Joel Max. Trust me, he is worth it. He knows his stuff and will give you the best possible treatment.

I've known Dr. Max for many years. He's seen me many times - typically at least once a year, although this year's visit probably won't happen due to COVID. I certainly wouldn't ever thinking of seeing another doctor whenever I schedule a dermatology exam in either the Baltimore or Westminster area. While other reviewers have found Dr. Max a bit short, I have found that he's usually quite willing to socialize a bit during our visits. My only complaint is that the communication from Dr. Max's staff to me is minimal. While I haven't had any issues with making an appointment or billing or insurance, I can't say that they have been proactive in discussing any of that with me. Overall, I strongly recommend Dr. Max, if you're a patient like me!

Dr Max is an intelligent and thoughtful physician. He explained everything clearly and laid out my options. His surgery on my ear was flawless (no scars!). I’d recommend him for anything from complex procedures to literally just having your zatz removed.

Dr. Max sees a lot of patients during his office hours, and sometimes there is a wait, but I think the level of care is excellent.

Always made to wait for an hour past appointment time. Doctors are always in a rush to dismiss. Common diagnose is always fungal infection without bothering to consider other possibilities. Staff has no idea what was done to you in the exam room when you get checked out. There are no reports or notes made on time.

Dr Max is the most impersonal Dr I have ever had the displeasure of coming across. He rushes into the room, says Dr Max, and goes right into, show me your spot, I can do this or this. When other concerns are brought up, he quickly brushes them off insinuating, this is not what this appt is for, make another appt to address those issues. He spent less than 3 minutes total in the office, and this was for a child. Awful doctor, I would never recommend.

As a new patient, Dr very impersonal. Didn’t even introduce himself to me. Just came in with can of frozen nitrogen. Started using it on spot nesr my eyebrow without even telling me to close my eye. Won’t be back!

Dis-trustworthy. He ended up charging me for $300 for a Botox that was covered by my insurance company. He complained to me that he wasn't making any money off my visit.
