Dr. John D Polousky

My daughter was a patient of Dr Polousky’s for 2+ years following extreme trauma to both of her knees. Multiple survives physical therapy and an external fixator frame - she is able to walk and run again. Dr Polousky is a fabulous, gifted, and caring physician. I couldn’t recommend him more highly

My daughter saw this Doctor a week ago had no bedside manner. Scolded my daughter for wanting surgery to fix her pain. When questioned about meds for the pain he claimed he doesn’t do that. Cincinnati Children’s was completely different. So long Akron Children’s

I tore my ACL and medial meniscus in 2016, and I am a high level female soccer player. Dr. Polousky repaired my ACL and left the medial meniscus (since he said there is a good blood supply and should be able to heal on its own). The surgery was successful and (knock on wood!) I have not had any other issues with my ACL. However, I was his last surgery in CO and never received proper follow up. Fast forward years later, and I was playing Division 1 soccer for Cornell and USD. After surgery, I developed a "cyclops lesion" of scar tissue that prevented me from being able to fully straighten my leg it was so big. I went to another orthapedic surgeon and they found out that my medial meniscus was STILL torn years later, and my knee was not fully mobile because of this. I had to get another surgery that put me out of my entire season and required me to take a long time off since they had to put stitches in my meniscus and remove the cyclops lesion. I am a bit disappointed that this was not taken care of before, or properly followed up with. Dr. Polousky used a VERY old fashioned technique that left my knee with a VERY large incision scar that goes about 5 inches or more down the middle of my knee, and then another on the side of my knee. Every trainer and doctor I saw playing Division 1 soccer was astounded that whoever did my surgery had used such an outdated technique, since surgeries these days for ACL reconstruction do not require such an invasive scar. Overall, I am thankful that my ACL has been fine and he did a good job in that I have not retorn it, however, I give 3/5 stars since I spent years in pain and lacking mobility because my medial meniscus was not repaired, and I will live the rest of my life with a HUGE scar down my knee that I have now learned was not necessary.

Dr. Polousky is a wonderful surgeon that cares about his patients. My daughter went through an arthroscopic hip surgery when she was 17, which he fixed her impingement and labral tear. Unfortunately, she had a failed surgery with a different surgeon a year later that her college sent her to. Dr. Polousky was the only person she trusted and wanted to speak after that failed surgery. In which we were able to meet with him within the few weeks of reaching out to him. We found out she needed a PAO (due to borderline dysplasia) along with a reconstruction of her labrum (after going through that 2nd surgery). It is crucial to have a surgeon with the expertise like he has with PAO and ability to put your loved ones in a more knowledgeable hands if need be (like he did with labral reconstruction). I will never be able to express the gratitude for the care, concern, and relationship he built with my daughter. Thank you for EVERYTHING!

Dr Polousky and his entire staff have been amazing.

I would highly recommend Dr. Polousky since he has done a excellent job on fixing my daughter’s torn ACLs. He fixed her left ACL in 2015 in Colorado and when My daughter torn her right ACL, we decided to go to Texas to have him perform the surgery on her right knee. He is very personable, caring and makes us feel at ease. He even took time from his busy schedule to show us around the new facility in Teaxas. Also, his staff are great too, very friendly and helpful.

I took my 9 yo to see Dr. Polousky after a failed diagnosis by another orthopedic dr. The failed diagnosis was a stress injury to the ankle bone. Dr. Polousky examined her, took x-rays and confirmed there was nothing wrong with the bone. The issue was a weak ankle that kept getting re-injured after an ankle sprain. After 3 weeks of physical therapy to strengthen the ankle tendons, my daughter is doing much better and on her way to a full recovery. Dr. Polousky was wonderful with her!
