Sat with him on a vist said I had a large stone and said I needed surgery and left the room did not even answer my questions called office to get questions answered and they said someone will call me I have not heard from anyone yet and I a due to have surgery in three days

If I could give a 0 star rating, I would. To make a VERY long story short, I went to ER 12/17 with a kidney stone. Was referred to Dr. McDonald, who I called 12/20 for a follow up. Was told he was out of town until 1/3 but he had to "review" my file before I could schedule an appt, and that it would be 1/30/22 at the soonest. Received a call 12/27 from his office stating he reviewed my file and wanted to perform surgery 1/4//22 for an "obstruction". This was news to me. Had a telemedicine appt with Alana 12/29, went for an x-ray 12/30, called office 12/31 for results but they were closed for holiday. 1/2/22 ended up back in ER in several pain. Stone was still there, was told after 6 hours Dr. McDonald wanted to admit me. Was transferred via ambulance (completely unnecessary) to Celebration Hospital. 1/3/22 received a call from Dr. McDonald's office stating "x-ray was clear and I was good to go". Was released from hospital and told to come back 1/4/22 for cystoscopy. Met Dr. McDonald for the 1st time right before procedure. Ended up, the stone was GONE! I had somehow passed the stone between Sunday and Tuesday but was not scanned before a completely unnecessary surgery, Which cost $24,000. Was in terrible pain after surgery, kept calling his office and was told to go to ER. Horrible experience. Called and spoke to office manager to let her know my terrible experience and was basically told "oh well, sorry". If I could give a 0 star rating, I would. He caused me terrible anxiety more than I had already due to the pain I was in. I had to go the the emergency room right after he completed the procedure because I was in breath taking amount of pain and when he came in to see the next day he just said "I don't know why you are in so much pain, we put in stents in other patients yesterday and nobody came to the ER" as if I was lying. For me this was a great experience. His staff was awesome from the person setting the appointment to the ladies at the desk his PA They all were very professional and did their jobs well. I had a large kidney stone was advised to blast it up to remove it. They took care of it fast the Doctor did a wonderful job and in about 3 days everything passed out and after months of dis comfort I was back to normal. Just remember that after they break it up you still have to pass it out of your system it was painful but that's the process and when it's over you feel better. Contacted his office and was told that he would call me back. He did and charged my insurance nearly $500 for a ten minute call, plus a $20 co-pay. I was sent for a CT scan and was told they would contact me. I had to call a month later and was given a shuck and jive and have heard nothing since.

So disappointed by the customer service here. :( I wanted to like this place so much but it’s absolutely impossible to talk to anyone here. Some ladies in a chronic UTI Facebook recommended I give Dr. McDonald a try because he accepts and can help decipher a Microgen DX test (molecular urine analysis). I was an out of pocket patient and the test alone costed me $200. Then a virtual visit with Alana Wood (I never actually got to speak with the doctor) costed me $140. I spoke with her over webcam and we spoke about my possible options depending on my results when they came back from the lab. She recommended either 6 months of light antibiotics, or a strong antibiotic for two weeks to knock out an embedded infection in my bladder. She told me we would be in touch and discuss my results once she got them, and figure out which route to take. A couple days later I got another call from a nurse physician who couldn’t tell me what bad bacteria I had in my system, what my results read or what any of it meant. She told me “we put in a prescription for a week’s worth of antibiotics because the DNA came back positive” ... I don’t know what that means? They couldn’t explain it to me either. I asked to speak with Alana like she told me we would about my results. They consistently told me I would need to schedule another $140 appointment with her to speak about the prescription she prescribed me and why. Never have I had a doctor (or nurse) prescribe me something, then charge me again to tell me why or what for ??? I waited a few days and called again to discuss my results, hoping that if I press the issue maybe someone will actually get Alana on the phone. I waited another few days and called again to discuss with Alana, but all I got was a nurse practitioner who again couldn’t tell me anything. I emailed Alana’s personal email she provided at the time of our first appointment. I messaged her staff through their “advent health” app and still have not heard back from their office almost a week later other than to “schedule a follow up appointment for $140” ..... why am I being prescribed this antibiotic? Why should I take it? What are my risks? My diagnosis? My symptoms? Why do I have to schedule a follow up and be charged to find out what you prescribed me? The first appointment with her she told me we would discuss my results free of charge? Why now can I not get through to her? Absolutely ridiculous and so disappointing considering I’m running out of options for knowledgeable doctors with my problem.... guess I’ll save up the money and fly to the specialist in Louisiana instead of wasting anymore time or money with this staff. From the moment I walked in to his office to the day I was released from the hospital it was just a very professional and personable feeling. His staff is just amazing and the celebration hospital was outstanding.

Michael McDonald does not deserve even one star. Words cannot describe how disrespected and neglected I felt under Dr McDonald and his team’s care. Both time I left Celebration Hospital, I was in tears and severe pain. I have a very large stone and had to have surgery. The surgery went well, or so I had to assume since McDonald never bothered to visit me or my mother after the surgery to go over what happened. Leaving his care, I had no idea what happened. While I was in recovery after the surgery, I experienced severe pain, to the point where I was screaming, crying, and writhing in the bed. My mom has to beg the nurse for any kind of pain reliever, which he was very reluctant to give since he believed the surgery was supposed to be “pain-free”. I was discharged while still screaming and crying, which many of my nurse friends said should have not been allowed. The next time I went to McDonalds office was to remove the stent. I have been especially nervous for this procedure since they refused to give me any anesthesia, even local or the gel. I got prescribed Xanax specifically for this procedure, which did not work. The nurse and nurse practitioner were some of the rudest, apathetic, and genuinely terrible medical professionals I have ever met. They looked at me like I was a child having a tantrum, not a very stressed woman who does not feel safe. I was sobbing my head off during the entire procedure. I saw Alana Wood, ARNP and Christian Elliott, PA about a year ago. Both were very informative and courteous. All the office staff was very kind and professional. They treated me and had me seen within a reasonable amount of time. Would definitely go back, if need be.

Dr. McDonald has eliminated cancer from both of my kidneys, saving my life both times. I cannot find words to express my gratitude for this doctor. Office and office staff were nice and Dr. McDonald was nice too. I was just going in as a followup office visit as my GP saw a change in my PSA. So he referred me and had another PSA done. We were in the office at most 15 minutes to go over the new PSA numbers which were back to normal and a quick prostate check. My only issue is they billed my insurance $555 for that 15 minutes. You must sigh office policy and procedures form before seeing doctor. One policy is” Your insurance may not cover DNA testing.” Why would they need to test your DNA? Another policy is “You may not see the doctor. If their is an emergency you would see the PA or ARNP.” I would think you would then have to make another appointment if the doctor is the only one who can answer your question or help with a procedure. He would not shake hands because he had just has a biking accident and damaged his thumb ( which was painfully swollen and blue at the joint). After the quote below he left he anesthesiologist to answer our questions. We asked why a stent vs a simple lipotripsy because my husband has narrow ureters? Its not his first stone and the stent used to remove the last stone didn't go well. We tried to explain this but the doctor was in a hurry. NOTE: His stone was easily removed by lipotripsy when we got home . I quote,"We dont turn that machine on for just one patient. If you were going to be here next week lets say around Tuesday or Wednesday, I could knock it out fast." We were at their mercy because the stone had blocked urine flow by now causing a slight infection. We went along with the stent. What else could we do? My hubs was admitted hospitalized for two days . He was sent home with a fever caused by an infection with no antibiotic. I made the nurse take his temp before we were discharged. The nurse said, " Take a tylenol." Getting an antibiotic called in by his staff was also a nightmare but after refusing to go back to the ER the doctors office called one in and it began working. The nurse at the office twice said, "You had a fever. They didnt give you an antibiotic when you left?" Like we had made it up. The stent caused constant pain. He took the pain meds but they helped very little. When we returned home the Urologist couldn't understand why he didnt get a lithotripsy vs the stent. He had lipotripsy the next day. The stone was quickly shattered into powder. The stent removal caused complications and an inability to urinate. Had to go to the ER a few hours later and get a cath to drain his bladder. The average bladder holds 1100 cc hubs set a record with 1400cc. A record no one should hold. More than a week of pain could have been avoided if the Celebration ER and staff had handled it by doing the dern lipotripsy on Monday vs 1. Being sent back to the resort with pain meds 2. Having to go back to the ER the NEXT day to be admitted 3. Waiting another day to see the Urologist 4. Being sent back to the resort the next evening with an infection. We kept asking to speak to a Urologist. Days we asked. Saw the Urologist minutes before the procedure during prep for three minutes. Thats all. Never saw him after the procedure.Never spoke with him. Was told he had been called and they were waiting to hear back over and over again. So yep. The man and the hospital get one star. I would do zero but there isnt a zero. Kidney stone while on vacation at Disney. Instead of a simple lipotripsy to remove a stone a stent and wire was inserted around the stone into the kidney. Concientious with follow up

Was difficult to get through over phones, left a few messages and was eventually called back. From that point on 5⭐️s. ALL staff were courteous and professional. Had my opp today and Dr Macdonald and staff were superb, made me feel comfortable and relaxed as was nervous. Thank you again and in the nicest possible way hope I do not need your team again. Previous to my procedure at celebration hospital with Dr McDonald on Nov. 6th, 2017 I hadn’t ever had anything medical done with him, only a 24 hour urine test, and a office consult.. He said that if I had any more problems to give him a call. On Nov 6th , I saw him late that afternoon, he stated we would be going into surgery in the a.m. on a 11mm stone. I came out of surgery an hour later, he had only placed a stent in and sent me home. NO lithotripsy,

I went and saw dr. McDonald after going to hospital with a kidney stone , he was the most uncaring doctor I have ever been to , he was less than helpful and was very rude. never go back.

Excellent physician - had surgery 5 years ago and completely satisfied.

Dr. McDonald is a great doctor, though I was in pain after my procedure and was not given anything to help. His office staff is amazing, though! Everyone is so nice and accommodating. His PA, Christian Elliott, has the nicest personality and made my uncomfortable procedure easy to endure. Though it may be difficult to get an appointment at times, his staff makes it worth while. I had been seeing another urologist for kidney stones, but Dr. McDonald has a better bedside manner. Give him a try!

McDonald was was great, he explained everything and had me back on me feet. His staff was awesome. I had a general visit and then had surgery a few months later. He performed it and was awesome.
