Worst Doctor I have ever encountered with. It is very clear he does not care about his patients or their well being. He is very dismissive and shows no signs of care or concern when your thoughts or concerns are brought to his attention. He is not proactive to finding the problem and what is actually going on. Horrible, if you want someone who cares about you and your health, dont go to this man!

I don’t usually leave reviews, but given the reviews that I have seen in this site, I have to question whether some of these folks have seen the same Dr Purkis that treated my wife and I for the last 6 years. Dr Purkis is a solid physician who is a straight-shooter who uses direct questioning and intellect to provide sound advice and treatment. As a generalist, Dr Purkis knows when to involve specialists I order to provide and recommend the most sound treatment.

Refused to see me as a patient when I was really sick and needed my doctor. I had already one Covid test and it was negative. Had a cough and needed to see the doctor. Had a negative Covid test but Purkis still refused to see me and referred me to my the ER or Urgent Care

When my "regular doctor" retired I was a bit concerned that I would be able to find a "new" doctor who would be "as good" as my "old" doctor. Dr. Michael Purkis quickly dispelled any of my concerns. I simply cannot believe some of the negative comments I have read here regarding Dr. Purkis. He is very professional l and appears to be highly knowledgeable and proficient in his profession. One of the first things I experienced is that Dr. Purkis is very "up front" and honest. He "tells it like it is" without mincing words. Perhaps some may regard that as being "insensitive", however, personally, I don't want someone, particularly my doctor. to "sugar coat" anything about my health! He "got my attention"! In a period of about three months, I lost ever thirty pounds and my A1C was significantly reduced. When I returned for my "follow up" visit, it was like visiting 'family'! Dr Purkis expressed his delight, even "excitement", at my progress. I highly recommend TVFP and Dr. Purkis!

Satisfied with care

Don’t waste your time. Be prepared to wait in a room for an hour, just for him to see you for 3 mins. He barley looos at you when you talk, he doesn’t move from his chair!! He doesn’t care about your time. His nurses do everything while he sits in a room. The office is stressed out and overworked. He has no bedside manner and will pass your problems off to any specialist he can pull out of his behind! Every time I come in is the same and I’m tired of it!! I call for prescriptions and get told they are waiting authorization from the doctor that I called in 2 days ago. Not a good look. He’s a pispoor excuse for a doc Don’t waste your time. Prompt polite and professional.

Dr. Purkis has been my primary care physician for 20+ years. He is the anchor for ALL of my medical concerns. I am completely satisfied with the care and treatment I have received from him and his competent staff.

After a long string of specialists trying and failing and doing many tests, we went to Dr. Purkis and he diagnosed my husband's issue right away. He's really smart and kind.

Horrible what a disgusting excuse of a human being to even be labeled as a doctor. Doesn’t respect patients especially women and will not listen to your concerns. Stay away FAR away.

Zero stars if possible. He just 'fired me' with a letter in the mail because I didn't choose the course of treatment he recommended for my osteoporosis. I called 2 separate times this past week due to extreme side effects from the flu shot. Both times he had his staff tell me to go to the ER. I wanted to see my Primary Care Physician, not sit and suffer in an ER for 7 hours and receive enormous bills. I never did think he had a good 'bedside' manner which is why I mostly saw his NP. He is great, personally I don't like to go to the doctor but He makes me feel comfortable and He help me in everything that I need.

Dr. Mike Purkis has been my husband David's best friend for many years. He's a great person.

This guy is terrible. I recently called his office after hours because I was running a fever and was experiencing severe body aches. When I spoke to him by phone I asked if he thought it was necessary to get a Covid test. His response was "Hahaha! NOBODY'S getting a Covid test, buddy!". I went to the ER that evening and received a Covid test without requesting one within 5 hours of my conversation with Purkis. His so-called annual physical exam took less than 90 seconds. Fortunately he currently has an awesome Nurse Practitioner who is far more thorough, attentive and professional. Zero stars for Purkis.

My back was hurting so bad that I had to crawl at times. His solution was for me to buy knee pads.

I took my elderly father for a appointment. He had two previous appointments and the office called and canceled twice one apt because the Dr was running behind another one because their system was down! We showed up for his appointment and updated his insurance information with the front office and we put down that he had a l new secondary insurance. The front office came back and said they didn't take his secondary insurance and they wouldn’t be able to see him? I asked if they could just bill his primary insurance and we could pay any co-payment if the primary insurance didn’t pay. They said No! I was so concerned because this was a follow up apt for my dad diabetes and asked if I could at least get his information for the appointment so I would know if he would be ok until I can find another Dr. They refused. I asked to speak to the office manager and they said she was busy and with a patient. I asked for records and they said they would have to charge us. Long story short they don’

Dr. Purkis is one of the worst physicians I have ever come across. As a provider myself, I found him to be unprofessional, unsanitary, and lacking proper medical knowledge. I came to him as a new patient, with a few concerns. First of all I had to wait two weeks to be able to see him, and had to cancel and rearrange my own patients for this appointment. As I talked to him about my concerns - needing a blood panel, etc, he told me that I need to schedule another appointment to get that done. I explained to him that with my busy schedule I cannot come in that frequently, to which he replied that he does not care. I then mentioned to him that I have a cyst on my back that has been bothering me for days. He asked me to lift my shirt up, and he started to examine me without washing his hands or putting gloves on. This unsanitary technique goes against every medical practice. The cyst was very inflamed, but he focused on a small pimple on my back, and said that that's where the pain is coming from. Seriously?? I had to take my own finger and point to him exactly the location of the cyst! He gave me antibiotics and dismissed me right away. Antibiotics were not helping and three days later I ended up in emergency room. The surgeon stated that the cyst has to be incised and removed right away, as its wall has fractured and it has been leaking. There was no infection that was necessary for prescribing antibiotics. The procedure got done right away. As a provider myself, this was a major misdiagnosis on Dr. Purkis side, and I will be reporting him to the medical board. Dr. Purkis is rude and mean. He doesn't care about people or their health and will quickly dismiss you and not even listen to your symptoms. I was a patient of that practice from 1993- to about 2015 (ish). Dr. Purkis was literally the worst Dr I've ran into not only as a physician but his lack of people skills. He never helped me in all the years I saw him- and was mean and cold every time as well. Afyer all those years being at that practice and having my entire family there as well, not once did anyone treat me as though they knew or remembered me. Its just not a nice friendly place. I always wait at least 45 minutes. One time I was an 8am appointment and still waited for a long time. How are you behind first case of the day? The staff is rude and checked out (especially front desk). I feel like everything requires a specialist so I basically pay him to say you should see this person. He is dismissive of your input and seems to have too many patients under his care to correctly give proper time to people. However, he does seem very knowledgeable. Just needs to be a little more personal.

Dr. Purkis has been my primary care physician for 3 years. I recently saw him for my annual physical. Dr. Purkis and the staff are excellent in the care they provide for patients. He has my highest recommendation for anyone that would be looking for a family physician.

I have gone to this Dr for over 20 years, during that time, he accurately has diagnosed my needs, followed up with tests to confirm the same. He is an excellent person to listen, diagnose and find you the correct treatment and or specialist for the situation. He has never let me or my referred friends down in any manner. Words to describe him and his ability.......PROFESSIONAL, ACCURATE AND TRUSTWORTHY.......just what I would trust my wellbeing to

Worst doctor in Tucson

If I could give 0 stars here, I would. As a doctor myself, I found Dr. Purkis to be unprofessional, unsanitary, with lack of proper medical knowledge.I had a cyst on my back that was hurting. Dr. Purkis, examined my back without wearing gloves, or even washing his hands. He also stated that it wasnt a cyst, but a small inflamed pimple on my back. Gave me antibiotics and dismissed me. I ended up in emergency room in extreme pain few days later, & was told that the cyst had to be removed asap!

Dr Purkis has been my M.D for over 10 years. He has always been kind, insightful and attentive. I have referred many family and friends to his care. Thank you Dr. Purkis you are the best!

Worst experience of my life, I would not go here if my life depended on it. Poor quality of care, unproffesional in all aspects. It is truly the best cookie cutter office they have in Tucson, Do not go here at all, I wouldn't if my life depended on it. Worst experience of my life. I do not think this guy knows what he is doing. Be careful when you go into this office, you may not come out.

This was my first visit and it was Great.Dr Purkis will be my doctor in the future.

In my experience (which has covered many years), Dr Purkis is the consummate doctor: he asks questions as well as listens to mine; he is thorough in explaining treatment options; and he has the knowledge of a medical detective. I highly recommend him and the friends I have recommended him to have nothing but positive things to say about him.

Zero is the rating I would give if they had it listed. I would not recommend to anyone see this arrogant and ignorant physician. Poor combination for a doctor! He does not listen to patients needs and is a poor provider. Don't waste your time and more importantly your precious health to this guy! Would never go to this clinic again!

Quality is poor. MAs arent certified. Asked to have my ear cleaned from wax buildup. She brought 4 cups of solution and a syringe the size of a turkey baster. The other did a blood draw that hurt bad, took 4 tubes for 4 tests. Dr Purkis told me my problems could be my gallbladder. Wrong..!! Wanted copies of records mailed. Told 5.00 a page! This office is filled with hacks.

My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Purkis since the early 80's. I can't begin to tell how many times he and his staff have gone the extra mileS to help us. Now, as we get older, our health problems grow more serious and urgent. Dr. Purkis is always available when needed. He LISTENS to our complaints and acts accordingly. I can't think of anything more to ask of a family practitioner. Highly recommended.

Had trouble staying awake and my liver was massive, six months seeing another pcp and nothing diagnosed..Brought my lab results with me and he diagnosed in seconds what was wrong with me..Did new blood tests to verify and he was spot on.. He might not be for everyone, especially the woe is me crowd but he knows what he is talking about.. We've been patients of Dr Purkis for 15 years. He is kind and caring and does respond to messages and requests. Even though Dr Purkis may not personally call back, the calls and requests are always taken care of in a reasonable time frame. If you have any testing done the nurse will call you with your results, and now you can access all your information, results and appointment info online through their secure website. My daughter is away to college in NY, and Dr Purkis still takes care of her medication, and follows up with her needs. In the years I've been a patient, Dr Purkis and his nurse practicioner have been professional and sympathetic, and willing to work within the patients means. Dr Purkis has been my doctor for years. He has very highly developed skills in differential diagnosis. He has made some very tough calls and been right each time. The specialists to whom he has referred me have been absolutely top notch. In a few cases, he has referred me to physical therapists (I had never believed in them before) and they not only obviated surgery, but took away the pain and it never recurred. Dr Purkis doesn't over-prescribe, doesn't do tests that are not needed and doesn't waste your time. This guy is good. I have entrusted my health to him for almost two decades and he has never let me down. Practicing medicine is a skill, a wide ranging knowledge of a great many technologies and requires a tremendous ability to see possible contraindications. My experience with Dr. Purkis and his staff was exceptional. We are from Alaska and have never had such a quality experience. My appointment was on time, my meeting with the Doctor was professional and on time. His diagnosis was made in the office followed by a review of an ultrasound, and he was correct in the initial diagnosis. I would recommend his service to anyone.

Before the office would take me I was questioned if I took pain pills. I told them no, and they accepted me. I have sciatica and asked if there is something I can do. Dr. Purkis is the type of doctor that has a callous about patients and didn't seem concerned about anything that was wrong with me. I was sick and asked for a doctors note, he laughed at me and told me it seems like you missed work and you just want a note to excuse you. Yeah...exactly. Poor bedside manor. 0 stars if I could.

He is a kind and concerned doctor. He has treated me very effectively. The only complaint is that the structure and workload of their clinic only allows patients to spend a few minutes with him.

My wife and I went in for physicals today. Neither of us had been to a primary care physician for several years and I was a bit uneasy after seeing some rather unflattering reviews. But we were both treated respectfully, professionally and he took the time to listen to our concerns. I say: So far, so good.

This doctor is someone who believes that if he does nothing than he can do no wrong. He doesn't return calls. At my last appointment he disapeared 30 seconds after entering the room. He said that he will return but didn't. This man is one of the worst physicians I have encountered. I requested my records be sent to a specialist to look into the medical marijuana laws to treat pain due to shingles and migraine headaches multiple times I have requested my records. Its going on a year now trying to get my records with no luck. Dr. Purkis doesn't believe in treating patients with anything that could possible be abused more than tylenol which I am now allergic to. I would expect my doctor to not give me anything that my chart says I have a allergy. Two years ago I ended up eating eggs that were bad. After taking the eggs back to Safeway they verified that I had been poisoned mostlikely. Dr. Purkis insisted that since I didn't go to the emergency room or hospital I definately didn't get samonella poisoning beyond any reasonable doubt. This man should not be allowed to be a primary care physician. No one in his office including him can draw blood for christ sake. A doctor should be able to put in a pickline directly to the heart. There is no reason he shouldn't be able to draw blood for a simple thyroid test. The people who handle the phones tho are very polite and kind. I did go to school and knew one of the secretaries personally about a decade ago. If you can see someone else instead of him that would be my recomendation.
