Dr. Wertz understands pain and was totally down-to-earth in his approach to relieving my arthritic knee problems. After doing x-rays to confirm, he injected cortisone into each knee (didn't even hurt). And it's worked miracles--stairs are no longer a problem. Plus, two other amazing things: the relief was almost immediate and his treatment held for six months before I had to repeat it. I couldn't be happier!

I had an excellent experience with my total knee surgery from Dr. Wertz. I was back to work two weeks postop and had minimal pain. The whole process was extremely professional and beat my expectations! Thank you.

Dr Wertz is an amazing surgeon and feel very blessed to have had him operate on my knee. He is a quiet man with a lot of heart! I have amazed PT and they couldn’t believe how much further I am compared to a regular box knee. I am not anxious about getting my other knee done now. Great experience

I met with Dr. Wertz a couple of times before he performed a minor proceedure on me. I think my wait time in his office was at least 45 minutes, and no one ever apologized for that. The work he did on my knee did not leave me feeling as good as he expected it to. In fact, my knee feels slightly worse than before the surgery. I'm going to get a second opinion and I should have done so in the first place. Fortunately, this was a minor proceedure, but I'm glad that he didn't do more significant work on me.

He did my rotator cuff five years ago and everything seemed OK but then I got a pinched nerve in the same spot and other professionals said it might be related to my rotator cuff surgery. Dr. Wertz refused to consider this as even an option and then he pushed me off onto PT people. He acted like I was trying to sue him, when all I wanted there’s an honest opinion and an effort on his part to fix my pinched nerve problem in my shoulder. His office also messed up my paperwork and charged me for six PT sessions where I did not have insurance coverage. Very disappointed and unprofessional!

This review covers knee replacement surgery on both of my knees, between November of 2019 and August of 2020, plus all subsequent follow up. The best way I can sum things up is to say that Dr. Wertz gave me my life back! Four prior knee surgeries (on each knee) had left my knees in terrible shape. I was highly restricted in what I could do because my knees just wouldn't take it. The surgeries were tough, and rehab was hard work. Dr. Wertz was very transparent about everything, so I was prepared for how much work I was going to have to put in to get the most out of the process. I'm now six months removed from the second knee, and I'm thrilled with the results. I'm hiking and biking, and enjoying all aspects of my life more. I've lost almost 30 pounds because I'm able to be my old, highly active self again. I would recommend Dr. Wertz without hesitation, for anyone considering knee replacement surgery.

Still in a. Lot of pain after two years. Can’t walk without limping and it’s causing my back and hips to hurt terribly. I went through all my therapy.

Dr. Wertz has been an outstanding surgeon for my knee replacement. I am now pain free when I walk. He listens to me and answers any questions that I have. Office visits are timely, and his staff is wonderful. I would recommend his services!

I have gone to Mike Wertz for over a decade for all of our family's orthopedic needs, and there are many as I have a house full of athletes. We have had several surgeries, cast, braces etc. and Mike has always patched us back together. I would highly recommend Mike Wertz for your orthopedic needs.

I am a healthy 76 year old healthy male who has been seeing Dr Wertz for several years. He has performed several procedures over the years on both shoulders. He is personable, cautious and a very thorough doctor. If any of my family or close friends are in need of orthopedic services I will encourage them to go to Dr Wertz

Although I had an appointment with Dr. Wertz this morning I never got to see him. After about 1 1/2 hours of waiting I had to leave to go back to work. His office is polite but tense and rushed feeling. After waiting for my turn for an hour or more ( xrays took a few minutes) he asked me to put on a gown. He then went on to other things and left me waiting in the exam room again. After another 15-20 minutes I got dressed and left. Also, the website did not have the correct address so the gps took me to his old location. I had to drive around the Avista Campus and call his office to find out what the new address is. The Avista desk only had his old address as well. From Boulder this took from 9:30am to 11:45am with nothing to show for my time. Dr. Wertz is the stereotype of the perfect surgeon. He is professional, his hip surgery results were stellar, and he is a bit aloof with his patients. He admits that he is more involved with the surgeries than he is with the patients and that he continues to work on his "people skills". I have several friends that have had Dr. Wertz as their surgeon and they agree with me. You couldn't find a better surgeon; he just needs to become more appproachable. He has a wonderful smile; try to see it.

Dr. Wertz has been an outstanding provider for me and others. He has a very kind, professional, and comprehensive way of explaining care. He is so knowledgeable and up to date on the latest surgeries. His manner is gentle, reassuring, and so professional. I think Dr. Wertz goes out of his way so spend time, answer all questions, and give complete assurance of his excellence.

The two times I met with him, I had to wait 50 minutes. The biggest GOD complex I ever have seen! A friend of mine use to work there, and she told me he treats his employees like crap and that the other doctors are the same. The worst place ever! Respect people and treat them right! You're aren't GOD!

Went to Dr Wertz for a total hip replacement. He left me with a leg length differential of almost an inch. Have to have it redone, but not by him. Long office wait time to see Dr. Wertz only to have him spend very little time with me and his solution was to wait until the other hip needed replacing then he would even me out. That could be 10 years from now or never. Got another opinion from a doctor that suggested he mismeasured me before the procedure.

If you are happen to be looking for best orthopedic surgeon in Boulder I would suggest dr. Michael P Wertz. Over 25 years ago he was a doctor on call when my daughter had a traumatic elbow injury which had to be cared for by the most qualified surgeon because it was on her growth plate. Doctor works did in the ignition job you can to this day no longer see the scar on her elbow. It turns out that 25 years later doctor works perform surgery on my clavicle and we were forced to wait 4 weeks before we could even look to see if it could be repaired because of the traumatic brain injury involved. Doctor words made sure that I was safe and in good health before he did the surgery the scar is merely. unnoticeable to anyone.. I know where it is and I can hardly see it my daughter who was 5 at the time of her surgery has no scar left on her issue at all. There is no way that I could express migraine night thanks and gratitude to such as skilled surgeon who made it possible for me to get these surgeries done on my daughter when I had no health insurance she is now a very active and healthy horseback rider who lets nothing hold her back. This is all due to the excellent surgical skill of dr. Michael Wertz. I first had the privilege of meeting Dr words in 19 90 he not only fixed my daughter but he gave great comfort to me and to my family assuring me that as a mother I had done nothing wrong that this kind of thing happens to all children the funny thing is it happened on Labor Day weekend when the kids were ready to go back to school. Dr Wertz has treated multiple injuries of mine - from ACL reconstructive surgery to broken talus, sprained ankle, and separated shoulder. I was pretty upset when I heard the news about my ACL surgery and he spent the time answering my questions, alleviating my concerns and engaging a peer for a second opinion on the spot. He's excellent at what he does.

Medical skills: Doctor failed to read daughter's chart, which only had two short entries. Didn't seem to listen once given information. Roughly handled child's limb. Didn't seem to listen to whether it hurt or didn't. Provided a splint that was way too large. Social skills: Doctor failed to introduce himself. Failed to apologize for being 45 minutes late. I thought these type of doctors went out of style 20 years ago when it was okay for surgeons to think they were God.

His having done 2 knees and 1 hip for me I am more than satisfied..
