Dr. Mitchell Ian Sorsby

This was a wonderful office. Not anymore. Dr. Sorsby has moved to a concierge style practice but didn't inform the patients that are not on that model of any changes to their care. I only see him once a year. In 2021, I went for my appt and ended up being seen by the PA. So for my Dec. 2022 appt. I specifically requested that I see the dr. I got a call the day before my appt that Dr. Sorsby was going to be out that day and I will see his PA. I politely requested that I be seen by the dr. so they rescheduled me for Feb 2023. I show up for the appt. and was again in the exam room with the PA. The PA is really nice and very competent but I had specifically wanted to see the dr as I had questions for him and only see him once a year. I was told by the PA that the dr gives priority to concierge patients and everyone else, on the days he is busy with those patients, gets to see the PA only....they can't control that.... In the meanwhile, I was still charged the copay as if I was meeting with the dr. - this is not fair and not transparent to the non concierge patients of the practice. I am now going to see another endocrinologist.

I wish I could write a better review here, because we have 3 family members that go this office..my last visit to the office no one answered the phones, ladies at front desk are not pleasant to deal with. The doctor we saw was a hour late seeing us, then once she got there was not so pleasant. I wish physicians remembered that we are customers and treated us with with a little respect almost all our family goes there. I love their knowledge, but to be honest their physician assistants and nurses are really why we stay. Today I have called 5 times to get assistance on a medication prescribed and no one is answering the phones? How can you run business like this? Customer service starts at the top in any business, if the doctors running the practice don’t care about the service their employees won’t either. If I didn’t think your physicians were knowledgeable I wouldn’t write this post. I care, so I give feedback. Don’t take for granted that you are fully booked because one upset customer to the next will go through the trouble of switching practices.

Best Endocrinologist I have ever had. All of the medical staff is friendly, professional and personable. They all are fantastic. I highly recommend Doctor Sorsby.

Dr. Sorsby is one of the better or best Drs. I go to. He's very thorough and personable. He called me on a Saturday morning once to check to see how i was doing. Karla McKugh (misspelled) his PA is also very good and was helpful while i was in quarantine in Rome for 22 days. I have been Dr. Sorsby's patient since 1995. During this time he has helped me control my type II diabetes. He always taken the time answer all of my questions and provide me the tools to control the diabetes. He identified my hyperparathyroidism and recommended a treatment option. Also my wife is a patient of his for her osteoporosis. I have recommended him to multiple friends and will continue to do so.

I came to Dr Sorsby, Karla (PA?) & Nicole (Educator) and their wonderful team after an internist refused to do testing to determine my proper diagnosis. They did not question me on testing as my case was clear before testing was done. I alternate between visits with Dr. Sorsby and Karla (both of whom have been patient with me when needed and supported me through this new life journey I'm on) and see Nicole when I need some fine tuning and to learn more about my diagnosis. I occasionally have to wait a little (but most times no more than 5-10 min) but I am okay with that because I know that they are taking the time with someone who really needs it that day, just like they have done with me when needed. They do not push unwanted medications on me, rather help me to work through possible other things to try first and talk through options. We work as a team for the better of my health. I have also entrusted my now adult son (with his buy-in as well) in their care as well.

Rude staff, rude doctors, they will make you feel bad about being diabetic and not help with the situation, but make it worse. This is the worst place ever! Gave them too many chances to make it right! Gave them 5 plus years to get it right. Still always left feeling worse than when I came in. Even after a few strokes they didn’t care following up, I wonder why the hospital even sent info about the situation if it was going to be overlooked. If you want to feel less than, come here. I became a patient after thyroid cancer and Dr. Sorsby has kept me informed about everything I could face with no thyroid. The staff are amazing, I'm so glad he is my doctor.

HORRIBLE experience. He is a Dr. that will insult and humiliate you when you qs. him. I went for a consultation for my thyroid goiter a few years ago. I asked him for alternatives other than full thyroid removal surgery? He made a face and put his hand at his throat, and said "do you want a soccer ball in your throat" I am with a much better Dr. now who listens and works with me. HORRIBLE experience. Been going to Endocrine Associates since late 80s. Dr Sorsby is a great Dr but is concentrating on his $3000/mo, non-insurance plan in his later years. He rarely sees regular patients and you will see a PA regularly. If you have a problem, the back office is messy, expect at least 24 hours or having to call 2-3 times for the nurse for non-911 emergencies or questions. Was a great place. Unfortunately there is not a whole lot of Endocrinologists available so they don't really have to be better.

Routine periodic visit.

I am a Diabetic. Yes, I am a Diabetic, but one that did not take it as seriously as I should have. I struggled for many years going to my general practitioner for management. I would do ok one testing, then bad the other. In other words, it was not under control. I finally looked myself in the mirror one morning & asked myself why I was going to a GP for my most important health issue. That is when I called Dr. Sorsby. And I can say that was the best decision that I ever made (besides marrying my wife). I highly recommend him and his staff. He changed my life in so many ways and I could not be happier. If you want someone who truly cares, has great communication skills and takes the time needed to explain everything, this is the Doctor to call.

I have been to quite a few doctors in my lifetime: this office is the BEST run office I have ever been to. Dr. Sorsby is INCREDIBLE, thorough, and cares about his patients more than any other doctor I have ever had.

Awful communication skills, can’t get answers from my any of my tests after finding a small tissue mass, such a stressful experience. Would not recommend using their practice if you want results!

My endochronoligist.

Excellent physician and communicator.

My primary care doctor referred me to this place but I doubt he realizes how awful they are. It took a month and three phone calls (from me) to even get scheduled. Then I saw Dr. Sorsby and his PA, neither of which would take the time to listen to my symptoms and decide what testing should be done. I told Dr. Sorsby what I suspected and he didn't want to do the blood work because it would 'take too much time'. I overheard him tell his nurse outside the door where I was that they were running behind. He diagnosed me with pre-diabetes which I do not have, and sent me on my way. My doctor had already ruled that and other conditions out which is why he referred me to an Endocrinologist! I now have to go to UT Southwestern and they will do thorough testing to determine what is causing my symptoms and hopefully give a proper diagnoses. What a terrible experience. I felt like an inconvenience instead of a patient. :(

I have been going to Dr. Sorsby’s office as well as Endocrine Associates of Dallas/ Plano for 5 years now. The office and staff are patient, they continually listen to me about my care, and explain everything thoroughly. They provide me with as much individualized care as possible, and have worked with my needs through some very difficult moments. Karla McHughes also sees me off and on (the scheduling office asks before if there is a preference for scheduling purposes). She communicates thoroughly and kindly all of the questions and decisions, takes the time to listen to me, and has been great to work with. If you can get an appointment, this group of physicians, nurses, and staff all work at providing the best care they can. I have been seeing Dr. Sorsby and Karla (NP) for over 20 years for Type II Diabetes and osteopenia. Great staff. Always working with me for the best medication for my conditions and listening to my concerns. I have had access the the patient portal for years as well. I always receive an answer quickly.

My OBGYN has suggested to visit this doctor due to high glucose tolerance test failed, and I had an appointment with Dr. Mitchell I Sorsby. Due to some reason, I had forget and missed the time; and immediately called his office with an apology and reschedule with voice mail. This Doctor completely missed a diagnosis which took another Dr. 3 minutes and a sonogram to identify. I never felt well taken care of and left with nothing but questions.

Tried to make an appointment. After calling 3 times, leaving messages and sending over referral documentation, they tell me- I had an appointment back in 2012 that I no showed for. I have been seeing another physician since 2011 and don't ever recall having an appointment with this office or this doctor. The receptionist told me that they confirmed with the doctor a few days ago that he would not set an appointment without a $75 missed appointment fee. Now- this office does not even make appointments without referrals so when I asked if they had referral documentation from the 2012 appointment, they said no. I have seen Dr. Sorsby or his Nurse Practitioner 1-2 times each year for the past 14 years for routine maintenance of thyroid levels (post-thyroidectomy). He is thorough and proactive, and his staff is professional and kind.

I have loved that Dr.Sorsby has worked with me to decide what was the best treatment plan for my thyroid issues. He explains things well and seems to really be a good at his job!

-HORRIBLE PATIENT CARE. I TOOK THE WRONG DOSEAGE OF MEDICATION FOR 4 WEEKS DUE TO AN OVERSITE IN OFFICE, I HAD TO CALL MYSELF... AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN! OFFICE STAFF IS RUDE, AND DR SORSBY DIDN'T SEEM TO CARE. THEY ALL COMPLAINED TO ME THAT THEY ARE BUSY. I would recommend.

I feel Dr. Sorsby is dedicated and sincere with his patients and their treatment. He is honest in his opinions, diagnosis and suggestions of medication needed to help the well being of his patients. He is also willing to listen to the concerns patients may have regarding taking certain types of medication regarding reactions, such as side effects, etc. i would recommend Dr. Sorsby to family and friends.

Dr. Sorsby and his staff are great. They're like a well oiled machine from the time you check in to the time you check out. Everyone its very friendly and helpful and explained things to me. I didn't feel rushed when I asked questions. I would highly recommend.

Very caring and knowledgeable doctor. Very receptive when calling. Nurse gets back to you the same day. Easy to refill prescriptions with his staff.

Dr Sorsby is very knowledgeable and great bedside manner

The staff here is top notch. I've been able to get better control on my diabetes and significantly lower my A1C. Thanks to Dr. Sorsby and his team I'm enjoying life more and will probably live longer.

All around this was a very positive experience. I found Dr Sorsby and his Nurse Practitioner, Karla, to be very knowledgeable and caring. They spent a lot of time with me and answered all my questions. They are both very good about explaining things. All of the staff were very friendly and efficient. I actually look forward to my next visit!

Dr. Sorsby is nice enough but every appointment I felt rushed & not really listened to. It seemed like I was just made to spend lots of money to end up on no treatment at all. I would have to ask a ton of questions to even get a full explanation of my diagnosis which I still don't have.

Dr Sorsby spent a good amount of time evaluating and recommending treatment, he has a very personalized approach, I believe patients already with diabetes would really enjoy his office.

Dr. Sorsby was excellent in the process of working with me to find out what was wrong with me. I currently had been seen for 5 years at the VA and was not happy with the care that they gave me and wanted a second opinion. Thanks to DR. Sorsby I was finally able to figure out what has been going on with me physically.

My visit was brief and did tests and I had to chase them down for the results and they never followed up to check up on me or to offer any sort of help. I clearly told them I had issues.

My first visit I actually was able to see Dr. Sorsby who was very professional and informative. My second and third appointments I was seeing his pa, who was very critical and would not listing to my questions. His nursing staff was very unprofessional and rude.

I see Dr Sorsby once a year to watch thyroid nodules and have had a biopsy in his office. He is very thorough and takes a reasonable and conservative approach which I appreciate. I have confidence that he would do otherwise if necessary. I brought Dad to him for years treating his diabetes and always felt he got great care and that is why I have come to him now.

Dr. Sorsby is knowledgeable, and cares about his patients. He has a calm demeanor and listens to questions and concerns about my health. I would very much recommend him to someone looking for a new doctor.

Karla (his PA) is wonderful. Great office staff. Lots of seating including a kid play area.

I liked Dr Sorsby very much, and had been a patient of his for about 8 years. Unfortunately due to 1 missed appointment and staff rescheduling of an appointment a time a date they did not confirm with me the practice DISCHARGED ME AS A Patient. Trying to find a new doctor has bee difficult as the majority of Endocrinologist in my City are also members of the same practice and the 2 I tried were underwhelming. My PCP is now prescribing my meds at this time.

I have to say you all have a great staff. I've seen Elisha for years and believe she is very thorough and has really helped me reduce the cost of the drugs I'm taking. Kudos! Would definitely recommend your office.

I don't usually get to see the doctor. I see his nurse or diet coke of doctor.. I am not sure if that is good thing or bad!!

I have no complaints. Dr. Sorsby knows his stuff and doesn't waste time beating around the bush. He is direct and to the point. The additional blood work he has requested while I've been under his care shows that he listens to my comments and is aware of how the medications can affect the various balances within the body. These show he takes care to monitor for unacceptable changes.

Dr Sorsby is great but office staff needs improvement on customer service and attitude over phone. I had referred him to 2 friends of mine but they both never made appts because of how they were treated just over phone to get set up as new patient

Love Dr. Sorsby and his staff! He has extra special PA's and RN's. If his practice was on our insurance, I would still be going to him. If you have an insurance plan that has practice as a provider, go there. You will get awesome care.

I have been a patient of Dr Sorsby since he was highly recommended to me by my physician in Canada, back in 2001. He stays up to date on the latest medical advancements and has always maintained a deep interest in my health and the changes in my lifestyle affecting my health. I feel very lucky to have found an endochrinologist in Dallas, with well-trained staff, whom I never have to second guess. I would recommend Dr Sorsby to everyone.

Dr. Sorsby is informative and non-judgmental. I do not feel bad after leaving an appointment with him. Karla is nice, but has a tendency to make me feel like I am not doing the right care for myself. Dr. Sorsby puts me at ease about my care and progress.

Do you have high blood pressure? Have you been previously told that you will be taking multiple medications for the rest of your life? Dr. Sorsby and NP, Karla McHughes diagnosed the true cause of my hbp and put me on a life changing path. The end result was reduced bp, less medication, and better quality of life. Thank you for not accepting the status quo.

I would not recommend Dr. Sorsby to anyone. He did not listen to my request and spoke to me through a nurse after numerous requests to speak to him personally. He refused to write a note to my employer stating that I had a disability. I was having issues with waking up high and taking too much insulin to cover it making me low by the time I needed to drive in to work. I requested a letter to my employer stating that 'this my occur, but he refused to write it and stated that shouldn't happen.

I have been a patient of Dr. Sorsby's for over 20 years. My confidence in his abilities toward my care are such that even though I have lived in the Virgin Islands for many years now, Dr. Sorsby remains my Endocrinologist. When I relocated, I was concerned that it may prove difficult to maintain my health needs given distance and his busy office. Dr is good but you hardly see him despite making apt months in advance. I go every five to six months and have waited upto 2 hrs. When I complained about it they didn't apologize they said its normal / expected. Their PA is good too but again if you take apt w doctor there is no guarantee to see him and when I wait 1 hr and then see the PA and ask about Dr Sorsby I got an unexpected defensiveness and a question if I would like to wait more !! They really need to work on time management !!

His office staff is always polite and professional. Dr. Sorsby is caring.

Dr Sorsby's knowledge about my thyroid disease is exceptional. I trust him explicitly. I know he is highly regarded by his peers and hospital personnel.

Dr. Sorsby is excellent, a solid doctor and a good, kind man who has taken great care of my elderly mother for many years. The person who objected to being seen on some visits by the Physician's Assistant just doesn't understand the concept of maintenance medicine. The doctor diagnoses, and then the P.A. monitors treatment, with visits to the doctor himself at regular intervals. That's a perfectly legitimate and effective practice! The worst Doctor I have ever been to. You get to see the Doctor on your first visit and it all seems good. After the first visit you never see him again. When you go to the office he comes in with his nurse practitioner Carla. After the first visit you only get to see her. She is cold and rude. If you do not agree with anything she says then she suggest you find another doctor. When you call the office you never speak to a live person you are put on hold for a long wait and then you leave a message it takes days to get a call back.
