Dr. Thomas W Mccormack JR.

I was going to schedule an appointment with Dr. McCormack because I saw him when I was younger and figured it would be best to go back to the same person. I will now not be going back to this office for the pure fact of the front office incompetence and disrespect. I filled out the paperwork required online didn’t hear anything for a week so I reached out they said they had me in their system from previously but would still need to fill out paperwork which I replied I did that. The lady on the phone said she could not find it and I needed to fill it out again so I did. Got a phone call from someone in the office who said they saw I was interested in becoming a new patient and needed to fill out the paperwork to which I replied I did she said oh we will look over it and call you to schedule an appointment. The end of that week someone from the office called and said yet again they saw I was interested in becoming a patient and I stopped her before she could finish we need you to fill out the paperwork and said I’ve filled out the paperwork twice and you have called me already and told me you would look it over and call me back to schedule an appointment. She was highly confused and said huh let me look for it. She then said oh yea here it is let us look over it and call you back to schedule an appointment. Absolutely absurd. I received a call a week and a half after that from a lady who left me a VM on my phone which I still have that said “We understand you were a patient a while ago and wanted to come back or whatever. So we were calling to get you scheduled.” I’m sorry but when someone is coming to you for help you don’t act like a jerk over a VM because you probably had a bad day. I was even willing to pay the astronomical copay that they wanted because they did not take my insurance. Needless to say I found Oconee behavioral health and they have not only been extremely nice and helpful but the copay without insurance is outstandingly cheeper. Dr McCormack please find new office staff. Yours is highly failing you.

Dr. McCormack and his staff are truly amazing. I had TMS treatment (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) for 30 days. I went Monday through Friday and I saw a significant improvement about week 3 through week 6. I no longer have suicidal thoughts, my bipolar depression is non existent, and I am now enjoying life. I can go back for maintenance at anytime with consultation from Dr. McCormack. I wholeheartedly recommend this treatment. Dr. McCormack and his staff are truly amazing. I am doing a review for an update to my previous review. I have completed TMS and it went beyond my expectations. I am having fewer symptoms of anxiety, obsessions, bipolar depression, and suicidal thoughts. I recommend this treatment and Dr. McCormack's office to handle the treatment. They are professional and were pulling for me the entire way. I had 30 treatments over the course of 6 weeks. I can go back for maintenance if needed. Thanks ABM!!

I have seen Dr. McCormack since 2019 and am currently receiving TMS. I specifically asked about alternative treatments to coincide with my medication and he informed me on several treatments. I have enjoyed being a patient of his. He is fair, listens intuitively and is always kind, compassionate, and professional. He takes all of my concerns and has my best interest at heart. I am glad to finally be making headway with a psychiatrist as there is so much stigma surrounding mental illness. His staff is amazing and he runs his practice with integrity and healing in mind. I am so happy to have found someone to assist me in navigating the ups and downs of mental health. Thank you ABM!

After going through all the trouble of filling out the new patient paperwork and taking it by the office, waiting a week and having to call them when they said they would call me, I was told they were out of my network and I would have to pay full price. I found out while searching for another provider that Athens Behavioral and Dr. McCormack are on the list of network providers. Either the office staff lied to me or they are not doing their job.

Dr Mac has cared for my daughter since age 7. She is now 19. She and I both trust Dr Mac AND his staff! Over the years , we have had multiple opportunities to interact with his staff. They have always been so helpful and willing to go the extra mile. When dealing with my child, I only accept the highest level of care. Dr Mac and his staff meet , and more often than not , exceed my expectations. We could not be happier.

I went to turn in new patient paperwork nervous because I previously had a bad experience with an old physician, & the receptionist that was sitting in the second chair was so kind & really helped put my mind at ease. She really made me feel welcomed & cared for. I left Athens Behavioral that day with a huge smile, & with a sense of relief knowing that I chose the right office to go to. I want to give a huge thanks to the staff because it was good to be treated with professionalism & care.

Impossible to get anyone to answer the phone. 9 out of 10 calls DURING BUSINESS HOURS go to the answering service. Need to reschedule an appointment? FORGET ABOUT IT because you will call their office multiple times and not get an answer, and STILL get charged the $50 cancellation fee even though you called and called and called to cancel. NEVER have I had a doctors office be so difficult to get in touch with. Take your calls or hire more people to take calls. ADDITION: The doctors and staff are wonderful people who work hard and go a great job. They are excellent at the medical side of things, but not being able to get in touch with your doctor or counselor is UNACCEPTABLE. I finished TMS about a month ago and it really helped my depression. With the TMS, medications, and therapy, I feel better than I have in a long time. I would definitely recommend TMS to anyone who was on the fence about whether they should complete the 4-6 week course of treatment. At first it seemed almost impossible to come 5 days a week but Suzy made me very comfortable and was very kind and attentive to me.

I had the privilege of meeting Dr. McCormack today as he navigated 5 family members through a delicate situation. I truly felt like I was in the presence of greatness as I listened to his wise questions and comments. He spoke respectfully to all; he listened attentively; he gave suburb counsel.

Office phone rolls to answering service 9 out of 10 calls DURING BUSINESS HOURS. Still charges cancellation fees even when you DO call to cancel before the 24-hour deadline because the calls roll to answering service. Unless you want a full-time job of trying to get in touch with them, don't bother.

Dr. McCormack is an amazing doctor. He is very thorough and makes his patients feel like they're at home. He wants what is best for his patients. His staff is always so accommodating and helpful. I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. McCormack was extremely helpful with providing the care I was seeking. I had a bad experience with a Psychiatrist when I was a kid and was very nervous about seeing another. He & his staff was friendly, easy to talk to, kind, & most importantly listened well. He went above & beyond to help find solutions that worked within my budget & limited medical coverage. Would highly recommend.

I have been seeing Dr. McCormack for a number of years now. I saw one other doctor prior to him, and he's made all of the difference. He continues to be a great help in finding the right medication, and non-medicated treatments for me as well as altering and improving the treatments over time. During my time with him, multiple different issues have developed, and he was always able to help find a solution that worked.
