Great experience with a tough situation. Office staff was friendly and efficient.

Was x-rayed & diagnosed by an insta care doctor with a fractured fibula and that it was fairly minor and would heal on it's own in a few months and I just needed to wear a boot. Came to Dr. Muir's office a couple of days later. His office took their own x-rays and he strongly advised immediate surgery to put in a screw & plate as he thought there was severe misalignment. He said the surgery would require me to be on bedrest for a solid two weeks, with several weeks of healing after that yet he'd only signed off for 3 weeks of FMLA leave. I got another opinion from a different orthopedic surgeon who thought surgery was completely unnecessary and carried the risk of more damage. Ultimately decided against surgery and upon canceling the surgery, Dr. Muir's office immediately voided the FMLA leave request (this went to employer without contacting patient first). Will not be returning for follow up care and will seek another ortho.

Dr. Muir came highly recommended to me by a friend. I totally concur with that glowing recommendation. If I end up having surgery I would feel safe and confident with him. Great credentials, expertise, and kind eyes. His assistant, Patrick, is awesome as well. Bright, cheerful office with friendly, competent staff. Ten stars in my book.

Dr Muir is truly a miracle worker!! I had three other Dr's do surgery on my foot and after five foot surgeries, Dr Muir saved my foot!! He is probably one of the nicest Dr's I have ever had! I would recommend him to anyone. He also has an amazing staff!! Thank you Dr muir!!

Dr Muir is the best! He has done surgery on me twice & I am now faced with two more. Even though I have moved away, I travel 5.5hr (each way) to see him because he is the one that I trust! I highly recommend him!

Doctor refused to review my recently done MRI study with me and Basically told me that there was only 10% chance he could operate on my ankle and no Guarantee the operation would be a success. I had already been charged 130 usd cash for the consult and after approx 15 minutes doing a very cursory exam, when the doctor realized I was not going to go get another MRI at his favorite radiology center (for an amount that nobody could even give me an approximate price on) I was summarily dismissed. Nice enough guy but If your insurance isn't going to cover everything just know you'll probably spend a months salary just to get an opinion. Oh well. Update : I had been staying with friends in Utah when I visited this Dr Muir. I paid 130 up front for my appointment and when I left I asked his receptionist "are we fine here?" She asked if I was coming back for follow up and I said NO. we said our goodbyes and I left and then left the state of Utah for Oregon. Now I find out 4 months later that his hospital has sent three letters to the Utah address telling me I OWE 70 DOLLARS MORE! Nobody at his hospital will "resolve" this problem nor admit to telling me that the out of pocket cost for the Consult was 130 usd which I paid. This deception is totally unacceptable and I will CONTINUE to blow the whistle on this fraud until the day I die. "mountain star Peak Orthopedics group" in Salt Lake city are responsible for committing fraud and should be held accountable. Im sure Dr Muir has no idea this is happening and never reads this reviews but he should be aware that this fraud is occuring. This Doctor was pleasant enough, but was not able to help me. I have had foot problems for months now. He diagnosed me with plantar fasciitis. I have already been treated for planter fasciitis, I have been to his ideal choice of physical therapy. If it was his foot he would never do surgery. I get that, but it isn’t his foot. He isn’t the one who can’t walk. Hasn’t been able to walk for 6 months now. He only offered hopelessness for me. This Doctor was pleasant enough, but was not able to help me. From the check in point to the nurse the doctor and the gentleman that set my wrist my grandaught and myself have never been so impressed with the service I received. I am 73 and had a few doctors in my life and this group is awesome. This was the first time for me with a broken bone. I can't say enough about my visit. Dr Muir explained everything I could understand and had a very good patient bedside manner. I came to his office for a second opinion after breaking my foot. He was so incredibly thorough, kind, and understanding. He took the time to answer all of the questions that I had and really explained my options so I’d be able to make an educated decision.

I followed Dr. Muir over from his previous location. He is not only a skilled surgeon but an incredible person. Dr. Muir is amazing. He has done 2 surgeries got me. I am very picky about my doctors, very. He is always in good spirits, always smiling. He is very thorough because he listens to what you are saying. He tells you like it is. Dr. Muir explains things clearly. I would (and have ) recommend him to anyone. His diagnoses have been accurate and helpful in past visits. On this last visit, he listened to my experiences with the current problem and the suggestions I had received previously. Recognizing that a possible diagnosis was unusual and beyond his expertise, he referred me to another doctor who is recognized as a leader in treatment of that particular malady. Last min call 30 mins before appointment saying they have to canceling our apointment. We waited over a week to get in and only get a very short notice and they cant reschedule us untill next month.

I can't share a lot, but i will say, poor bedside manner, incorrect dosage and medication prescribed and office staff unwilling to contact dr on his day off because they are not allowed to contact him during vacation or day off time. "Buyer beware" I would have rated him a zero stars but unable to on this rating feed.

Dr Muir is an excellent Physician. He spends a great deal of time making sure you know your options and the information needed to make decisions. He has a great bedside manner.

Amazing doctor. Even though hes a surgeon. Hes amazing. Does a great job at explaining whats going to happen before you go to surgery. Does the surgery good and fast. (Dont get caught outside after). The healing process was fast. Dr Muir. I have noticed likes to take things step by step. Instead of overwhelming You by making you set up all these appintments ahead of time. Nicest guy I know and a great surgeon.

Amazing, compassionate, thorough and hilarious master of his craft. I suffered a very serious foot injury and Dr Muir and his staff were wonderful every step of the way. One of the best doctors I've ever had the pleasure of seeing, and that's saying a lot as I'm not stranger to doctors. I would recommend him to anyone! Dr Muir is nothing short of amazing. I couldn't imagine having a better experience, given the circumstances I was dealt. He and his staff are caring, compassionate and very skilled at what they do. I never once felt rushed during an appt, always knew exactly what was going on with my conditon and what to expect and actually enjoyed going to see him. I'm almost sad he got me back to normal so that I don't have to see him anymore!

BEST. BEARD. EVER.

I went in with bilateral lower leg fractures and a compound fracture in my right leg thanks to dr.Muir I am able to walk and live life as I did before I broke my legs...

I broke my ankle in several places on a Tuesday. He was able to get an appointment to see him on Friday and we had the surgery scheduled for Tuesday. I was pleased that we were able to get it done so quickly. His assistant in his office was wonderful. She fitted me for a boot and was so gentle and caring. Dr. Muir is just wonderful, and he promptly returned my after-hours call, personally. I can't say enough good about him or his staff. The staff at Jordan Valley was equally wonderful.

Dr. Muir was awesome. He did my 3rd ankle surgery (Dr. Beck did the first 2, with reconstruction). Dr. Muir explained all options clearly, made surgical recommendations and discussed what options were not recommended. His staff was friendly and helpful. As a patient, I never felt that he rushed our exam/consult time together. Unfortunately, this is evident in the wait time. But, I'd rather wait an hour for my scheduled appointment than be rushed through that appointment. I highly recommend him.

He may be good, but his staff are rude and you can expect wait times in excess of an hour. They stack their clients like chord wood. His office, nor he return calls. Seems like a nice guy, but this is the last time I go to him.

I went with Dr. Muir after having a problem with my ankle. Dr. Muir worked with to diagnose the problem. After finding out that I had a torn peroneal tendon, and some other tears on some other ligaments, Dr. Muir talked me through my best options, and exactly they would/could do with each option, and the good and the bad. He said that since my ankle is causing issues, he recommended ankle repair surgery, and explained everything that they would need to do to get me back to normal. I ended up scheduling the surgery, and Dr. Muir did an AWESOME job. The medical staff was awesome, and very helpful. This was my first surgery ever, and they were great. After the surgery, Dr. Muir put my ankle in a massive bandage/cast thing. I had visions of how bad my ankle would be mutilated, but when the bandage came off, the cuts, and scarring were minimal. I had read about recovery times, and all this on the internet and was a little concerned, my recovery time was great, when Dr. Muir decided it was time he recommended that I go to physical therapy. With the great work that Dr. Muir and his staff did, and the great work by my physical therapists, I was able to walk without assistance from crutches or a boot, after about 6 weeks, and was hiking in Moab by about 9 weeks after my surgery. Great doctor to deal with, that actually cares about you, finding the cause of the problem, and doing what is best for you. Four months after my surgery I am pretty much back to normal, and my ankle feels much stronger than before. Went to Dr. Muir for an Achilles rupture repair. He was awesome! He explained the procedure and made me feel pretty good about facing what I thought would be a daunting recovery. Turns out Dr. Muir uses the latest technique and I was WAY ahead of the "typical" recovery schedule for an injury of my type. I have an active job and still participate in dynamic sports although I'm halfway into my 40's. Dr. Muir was responsible for getting me back to work and back to sports in a ridiculously short amount of time compared to other patients I know of that opted for a different surgery type and less aggressive post-op therapy. I owe my health and well being to Dr. Muir! He is the best in the Salt Lake Valley. If you need Achilles surgery, look no further! Can't recommend him enough!
