I was referred to Dr. Hughes after kidney cancer was detected. Dr. Hughes wanted to REMOVE the kidney. I went to another Dr. in Birmingham and had 1/4 of my kidney removed instead! Yikes that was almost a mistake listening to Dr. Hughes. He also has very poor bedside manners and listening/social skills. Checked my prostate in the room with my girlfriend and didn't even ask if she was my daughter, sister or anything. Maybe she didn't care to see that! good luck to you if you stay with him.

I have no doubt that Dr. Hughes is competent at his job. He has removed two kidney stones from my body. The problem I have with him is that he does not listen to what I tell him about my body. He just says, "Drink more water. Drink more water." I have an underlying condition that he refuses to try to find the answer to. I am seeking another doctor because he doesn't believe me.
