Best surgeon ever !! He took on a surgery that no other surgeon would touch. Has been a pleasure having him as my surgeon. Has definitely improved my quality of life & had ZERO complications during surgery & ZERO issues after surgery

after my procedure, the Pro Step,on my l foot, my foot came out worse!!

Unreliable, Apparently they have to receive records, doctor reviews it, and decide if they want to see you or not. But it’s been two weeks of trying to schedule an appointment, and being on hold for very long time periods for nothing. No decency of calls back either. ???? WASTE OF TIME

Wait was never more than 10 minutes after appt time. Very well explained.

Dr. Mates and I had talked about my options for my injured achilles, one option being surgery; but he suggested I try physical therapy first. He took the time to explain things that I could understand. He is understanding and shows compassion. I was reluctant because the pain was intense just to touch it. I honestly thought after physical therapy I would still need surgery. I was so wrong, after 4 weeks of physical therapy, I can walk without the "boot" and no more swelling and little to no pain. Thank you Dr. Mates

My husband Arville had a complete ankle replacement and Dr. Mates called me and explained everything I need to do and never ever sounded rush to get off the phone with me. I have never met him because of COVID but I trust him as much as my husband. May you have many blessing a long your way and my God protect those beautiful operating hands. Worst issue: You CANNOT get in touch with them if you have a medical issue...you leave a voice mail and THEY TOLD ME that their standard is a 48 hr time frame to return a call!!! The office is a disaster for scheduling (multiple instances of them deciding to change my appointments!). The doctor runs LATE, like 1 hour late, EVERY SINGLE APPOINTMENT! AND, I had a fairly poor surgical outcome.

Poor office and a poor surgical outcome. Dr. Mates very much misrepresented my expected recovery time: He specifically said "you should be walking normally at 12 weeks", but when I reached that point in time, he was saying "You are doing great!" but I couldn't walk well yet, and he said "I never said that." But I have it recorded!

Dr. Mates is caring and compassionate, listens to me without rushing me out of the office and explains everything to my satisfaction. He did not push to do surgery on my foot, but has given me the chance to try to heal it with exercises structured for my injury, Lisfranc, immobilization, (wearing a boot and compression devices), limited weight-bearing, icing the joint and elevation. Everyone I have dealt with in his office has been kind, professional and made me feel like a person and not a number. I am impressed with his manners, his treatment of me and his conservative approach to my injury. Having worked in the medical field many years, I know that the wait times in an office such as this can be frustrating, but I have not had any unreasonable or long wait times to get in to see him or for x-rays. I would recommend him to anyone with foot or ankle problems.

For anyone looking for suburb orthopedic care, physical therapy and/or surgery this is the place to be. I've been a patient for more than 3 years. Both Dr. James Donvan and Dr. Aaron Mates, who are both surgeons, took care of my hand twice, both knees and now recently second foot surgery was performed by these two well experienced surgeons. They are friendly, have bedside manners, very professional and explain everything to you in layman terms. The staff whether on the phone or in person, are truly so caring and friendly!! The biggest issue is the wait times and secondarily that the office changed several of my appointments. You can plan on waiting a minimum of over 20 minutes per visit, and frequently much more. Additionally, they have very poor call-back behavior...I got told that their standard is 48 hours to get back to a patient! That is a looong time to wait with a post-surgical medical issue/problem!

Dr. Mates, is a caring, compassionate, concise Dr. He evaluates the issue, explains it in simple terms, gives you options for care and answers All questions you might have. I would highly recommend him, if you want good care.

Dr. Mates was fine, but the entire office and scheduling is terrible. Their standard of care includes TWO DAY turnaround for return phone calls!!!! Long waits in a crowded waiting room. I had surgery by him, and then NEVER saw him in post surgical care, and had ZERO follow-ups to check on Me, and struggled to get in to have post-surgical issues looked at!!!

He seems nice. But TWICE they had me come in 20 minutes early, and then I waited an hour to see Dr Mates.

Dr. Mates is amazing!! He fixed my foot after 10 years of pain and suffering and I saw 4 different surgeon's before him. He is very caring and goes above and beyond to make sure you are cared for. Ive recommended him to several people and will continue to. Thank you!

Dr Mates is a Godsend. I have been told for years that I had Osteoarthritis and was walking on my ankle and had to live with it. After going to a seminar he put on, I scheduled an appointment and he found I had 2 broken bones and some torn tendons. He said I was a perfect candidate for ankle surgery. I had the surgery on December 11 and after an extensive surgery, it was worse than he thought but did an ankle fusion. I saw him today and he was amazed at my recovery. I am so thankful for Dr. Mates. He has given me a new lease on life. If you are having a problem with your ankles I would highly recommend Dr. Aaron Mates he is the best.

Dr. Mates is the best! he saved my son's leg in an emergency and very rare case.

Dr. Mates is superior in every respect. He is very knowledgeable in his specialty and has an amazing "bedside manner". He answers any and all questions. In my 68 years of life, he is BY FAR THE BEST DOCTOR I have been a patient of. thank you, Dr, Mates !!! HE IS superior in EVERY DETAIL.

Was not spoken to after surgery. Called to have him answer questions, had to leave a voicemail, and was never called back.

I had bunion surgery 30 years ago. So when the bunions came back, I knew surgery was the answer. Dr. Mates was recommended by a friend of ours who also worked for Dr. Mates. He is OUTSTANDING! He is an active listener who is thoroughly prepared. As a patient, you feel as if you are in competent hands. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Mates!

I went to see Dr. Mates after two years of being told my painful feet could not be fixed. After x-rays, Dr. Mates said he could fix them and he fixed my left foot so well I have no more pain. I will do the other foot in a few months. Thanks to him for a job well done.

In less than one year Dr. Mates took me from a possible amputation to walking! The very best surgeon I know.

Dr Mates put me at ease about my horrible injury the night before surgery. He assured me that he will put my broken femur together and will work with me closely on the road to recovery. He is thorough, extremely caring, answers all my questions at every appointment, spends quality time with patients and as long as needed. I am extremely thankful to have Dr.Mates by my side, I feel I am truly in the most capable hands! Please look no further!!

My husband and myself are more than pleased with Dr. Mates. He will be our family Orthopedic Dr. for years to come. He takes great care of his patients, listens to our concerns. Gives promises that he keeps. One of the best Dr's I've ever had the privilege of knowing and receiving care from.

Dr Mates and his staff have provided excellent care before my surgery and during recovery. Dr. Mates takes time to explain what will happen before, during and after surgery. His attitude and ability have left me with a positive feeling. I would highly recommend Dr. Mates.

First visit was in December and made arrangements for the Cartiva Implant along with a hammer toe fixed. Out of all the 5 appointments made not ONE was on time. Each visit was at least 1 hour to 2 hours. Loved the doctor but not the way their appointments ran.

Dr. Aaron Mates is a Very Good & Kind doctor. His Office Staff is very Helpful.

At the last minute they pushed my father's surgery out to an undisclosed date cause after 3+ months of x-rays and mri's they now state" We are note sure if your ankle is damaged from a fracture or something else" also stated "the foot surgery I'm performing with not fix it, will not help him walk, it will relieve SOME pain" My father walked out of this appointment confused-which this was only a meeting with the Dr, not appointment so he was charged $50 for co-pay, no thanks, money hungry!

I went to several different doctors in pain before DR Mates ordered an MRI for me. Once he did I had surgery with in 3 weeks and i am feeling 100 times better. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone I know.
