Terrible experience. Wasting of time. I have insurance with no co-pay. They required $150 non-refundable deposit. This is personal decision of the doctor and it's not fair.

Would give 0 stars if I could. He made my mom feel extremely uncomfortable and he made her feel bad for NO REASON. He never let her talk and he never listened. No patient should EVER have to feel this way. I work in healthcare and no dr. should ever treat their patients this way. My mom did absolutely nothing wrong, she initially came in seeking for help from this dr and left disappointed the he did not want part in helping her out. I am absolutely disgusted about this man. I don’t understand how he has his license, it should be revoked. He does not care about his patients. He is always rushed and does not care to listen to anything you have to say!! He will make you feel like you are a bother to him. He gets mad and frustrated very easily. It’s sad to see all these other reviews of bad experiences with this man. Absolutely disgusting and this man is an absolute joke. My mom lost her hearing because he never bothered to help her or listen to her. Would give 0 stars if I could. I had a horrible experience. After about 4 minutes of seeing me the Dr. ordered a test to be done somewhere else. I called the number he provided and that location did not provide said test. When I asked told the receptionist she began to argue with me that I was wrong, face to face. Later I called as no resolution was reached to ask about a refund because i did not receive treatment and all he did was check vitals and look in my ears nose and throat. Both the Dr and Receptionist were on the phone arguing and yelling with me. If he requires this test of everyone i think that should be told to people while booking the appointment. The customer service and arguing from both of them were extremely unprofessional, and I do not want that man operating on me. Im out 175 bucks, but I now know I would not trust him to operate on me. UPDATE just got a surprise billing call for an additional 300 bucks. Paid a discounted price same day of 75 bucks. Then the receptionist declined to mail me a receipt when asked several times, then said ill send a bill. Wretched customer service. I don't know how she is still employed. Definitely heed the negative reviews posted by other patients, they aren't lying. I was referred by my primary to have my ear checked. The receptionist is rude and abrasive, the waiting area is tiny and they cram so many people in there despite COVID distancing regulations, Dr. Pollak (I say "doctor" loosely) took all of 2 minutes with me, asking rapid fire questions before I could respond to any, and being very forceful with his exam. By the end, he said he was going to clear wax from my ear, and proceeded to ram a metal rod in there which hurt like crazy. I told him that it was too much pressure, and without saying anything he rammed it back in harder. That time I winced and told him it legit hurt, and again, without saying anything, he rammed it in harder and farther two more times. If he had communicated at all about what that procedure was going to feel like, I might not have had such a problem with it, but he gave no warning or explanation and gave no response to me saying it hurt. Afterwards, my ear was bleeding while I drove home, and I was still cleaning out dry blood by the next morning. It still hurts and I'm afraid to use the medicine he prescribed me. I'm ever thankful that he told me I didn't need to follow up with him again. At least the medical student was professional , and with exceptional bedside manner. Dr. Pollak (I use "doctor" loosely) is abrasive, unprofessional and definitely does NOT "advocate an interactive adult relationship between doctor and patient" like his bio suggests. He asked me questions without letting me respond, performed procedures without explaining what they entailed, and gave me no information about what caused my ear complaint. By the end, he said he was going to clear wax from my ear and proceeded to drive a metal rod in my ear repeatedly despite my telling him it hurt, and he not once stopped to address that concern. I drove home with my ear bleeding, and was still cleaning dried blood the next morning. I'm still too afraid to even use the ear medication he prescribed. I am ever thankful that he told me I didn't need to follow up with him again.

I submitted an online request for an appointment. The next day, I received a call asking if I was still interested in booking an appointment. I confirmed that I was, and I was transferred to the office. Upon answering, the woman I spoke with in the office was extremely rude. She stated that it didn’t make sense that I had been transferred to her. She then said that they did not take emails when I mentioned I had made an online request and had been transferred by another woman who had called me about my request. After that, she asked for my insurance. I told her, and she very rudely told me that they did not take my insurance. I expressed my confusion because the online request form specifically had my insurance as an option in their drop-down box when I initially requested an appointment. She offered no explanation,— even when I asked if perhaps they simply used to take my insurance and maybe that’s why we had a misunderstanding—she did not offer to do any double checking for me, and did not even bother to politely explain or apologize for the misinformation on the website. I’d only recommend getting in touch with their office if you want to be made to feel like a complete nuisance and waste of time by the staff. I submitted an online request for an appointment. Terrible experience. All they care is about the money. They don't even have a computer to verify insurance. They told me that my UnitedHealth Care PPO insurance was a discount card and they wanted to charge $250. The patient prior myself went in and left slamming the door because they couldn't find his records. The place is a mess, they have a full wall of paper folders with patient records that apparently they can't find. The receptionist got offended because I said she was crazy for wanting to charge me.. Guess what Dr. Pollak, you can't run a business without having technology, I am actually glad you didn't see me, you probably would have prescribed a treatment from the 80's. And Yes! I left your office slamming the door! Thank you for wasting my time! YOUR RECEPTIONIST IS RUDE! And you should avoid micro-managing your office, instead be a doctor and take care of your patients! I have already written a review about this "doctor" on yelp but him and his receptionist are sooo rude that I just had to write another review here to warn people about this doctor. The is the WORST, RUDEST doctor I've ever seen in my life. He spent about 2 minutes with my friend and I and kept interrupting me when I was trying to translate what my friend was explaining about her symptoms. He is very insensitive and kept giving us dirty looks because we were taking a moment to explain why we were there. Dr. Pollak, if you are not patient enough and compassionate enough to be a doctor then maybe you need to reconsider keeping your practice. Everyone be aware and avoid this doctor at all costs!!!!!!!! I have been a patient of Dr. Pollak's for over 15 years. I sometimes struggle with ear and sinus infections and my regular doctor is not equipped to really see if I have an infection and how best to treat it. Dr. Pollak is highly knowledgeable in his field and cares about his patients. I recently was suffering from a chronic illness and he sent me for tests and carefully ruled out what it wasn't until he figured it out. I am better now and he stuck through it with me. I wish I could give this doctor zero stars. He was awful. Extremely rude and unprofessional. He didn’t even check me he had a student exam me. He also said the lump in my neck was most likely cancer and I need a biopsy. I went to a different doctor for a second opinion and they did an MRI and it was my artery swollen. They said if he biopsied that lump he would have killed me because it wasn’t a lump it was my artery.

Waited almost 2 hours, only to be called in for less than 5 minutes, with him out of the room more than half of this time. He was very rushed, didn't bother to listen to the reason why I came in, didn't let me finish speaking, just wrote prescriptions for over-the-counter medicines completely unrelated to the problem, and said to come back in 3 weeks. Was very rude and so was his staff. Despite him running 2 hours behind schedule, he wouldn't allow for rescheduling to another day without charging $200. The fact that he wouldn't even spend a minute to listen to the issue despite the long wait, and then ushered us out so quick without even taking a look, feels like a scam to just bill the insurance for as much as he can without actually doing anything. The positive reviews here are probably from people with better insurance. Don't bother coming here if you value your time or actually need treatment.

I saw Dr. Pollak at Mount Sinai Hospital located 1501 S California Ave in Illinois, after my PCP referral. I was shocked by the fact that he already had diagnosis before he examined me. He seemed very busy and had no time to listen to me. How can you make a diagnosis before you see your patient and listen his complaints? I was able to get an appointment within a reasonable amount of time and I was not kept waiting when I arrived for my appointment. Dr. Pollak’s north side office is conveniently located. For people that rely on public transportation there is a bus stop in front of the building; for people driving there is parking next door. As for myself I was able to walk to his office for my appointment, or I could have used my bicycle because there is a bike path across the street. Dr. Pollak is treating me for hearing loss. I had a so-called ‘office procedure’ done back in January, it is now August 20, and I had paid my $30.00 co-pay, calling me saying they are billing me $250.00 and I absolutely refuse to pay this. This is absolutely unbelievable because it was a consultation to see if my nose was obstructed and all he did was take a scope to my nose and looked. This is borderline criminal and fraud. The woman who answered, was not a professional at all. Unbelievable. I am having my insurance fight this bill.

He mis-scheduled my appt, then he showed up late to the office. So not only did I have to wait over an hour, he rushed thru the visit, said nothing was wrong and tried to get me out. I would have been okay with that, it inconvenienced me and shows incompetence. BUT the big issue I have with this doctor is that 1 month later, I get a message: there's a bill for the "office procedure" I had. When I call back, the secretary/"billing department" says that if he looks at my throat then that's called an "office procedure" (no scope, no needles, no tools, no papers to sign, no warning that I will be charged). I had already paid the copay at the visit! He couldn't help me and on top of that, he is trying to bill me 1 month later for another charge. Please don't support these shady practices. I saw the MANY negative reviews (and the one positive one attesting to his skills), and thought to myself: "Well, at least if he knows his stuff then I don't care if the secretary is rude [she is] or the environment is bad [it is] - the 'expertise' is what matters." No, I regret my naivete. Do not risk it here, go somewhere else! He mis-scheduled my appt, then he showed up late to the office. This doctor ignored my wife after her first visit. He and his team are careless & heartless. He refused to see my wife after he ordered CT SCAN for her ear. My wife finished the CT scan and after that they never gave us appointment to see him again. How can you see a patient, order CT SCAN & then ignore them after that? That is unethical & cruelty! The lady picking up the call is extremely rude, always yelling at us, lied about not receiving referral and authorization from wife's PCP. Insurance company told us Dr Pollak is in the network and you were already seen by him, there is no further authorization needed and so there is no reason for him to refuse to see you again. We wasted weeks trying to get an appointment to see the doctor again, but my wife was mistreated by the assistant, lied to , yelled at and refuse to be seen for follow up! The insurance company representative assured us they will take action. STAY AWAY from this unethical doctor and his dishonest and rude assistants. This doctor ignored my wife after her first visit. He and his team are careless & heartless. He refused to see my wife after he ordered CT SCAN for her ear. My wife finished the CT scan and after that they never gave us appointment to see … More

Both my 98 year old mother and I have gone to him and he's been great. He cured her ear aches and diagnosed my ear issue. He squeezed us in without waiting weeks for an appt. I had to wait 3 mos. to see my Neurologist.

He mis-scheduled my appt, then he showed up late to the office. So not only did I have to wait over an hour, he rushed thru the visit. I was okay with that BUT 1 month later, I get a message: there's a bill for the "office procedure" I had. When I call back, she says that if he looks at my throat that's called an "office procedure" (no scope, no needles, no tools, no papers to sign, no warning that I will be charged). I already paid the copay! He didn't help me and charged extra for "looking"

Any review above 1 Start for this doctor is definitely paid for by this doctor. Least professionalism by everyone in his office including Alan himself. I firmly believe his license should be suspended for the shady practices used by him and his staff

Unethical , heartless & careless doctor. His assistant is nightmare to deal with. Always very rude & yelling. I saw Doctor Pollak to check on my ear. He ordered CT scan which I completed & went to see my PCP to refer me back to see him again. The PCP's office not only entered the results in the system for him to see, they faxed the referral many times . They hung up on call from my insurance company too.He & his assistants started to play games & eventually refuses to see me for follow up

Dr. Pollak himself is a nice guy, but he literally has the worst office staff of any doctor's office I have ever been to. I went on a Saturday for some reason and his "secretary" didn't even have a computer available for benefits and financial transaction purposes. Nancy with billing is extremely rude. I asked for a receipt and she acted like it was the hardest things she ever had to do. I HIGHLY recommend going elsewhere, simply based on his office staff.

Dr pollak himself did an awesome job with my 3 yr old for surgery, she got tubes put in her ears Oct 19th. But when u went to schedule for a follow up I swear not only me but my mom whom isn't a patient witnessed attitude. I called at 9am said hi good morning I then was told to hold, the secretary came back on I told her that my daughter's ears were woozy from the medicine that we put in her ears asked, if it was normal? She yelled at me and goes why would you put medicine in her ears! I said because the Dr prescribed. She goes to see if it's normal I swear she went and looked it up instead of asking the Dr. Then I said OK well I need and she completely hung up the phone before I got to schedule an appt. So I caked back at 10 she answered Dr pollak office I said I need and got out on hold without me giving her a yes or no when she asked if I could wait. I was on hold for 5 mins so I hung up. So I called back at a quarter to 11am she answered the phone Dr pollak office please hold I said no I will not hold as I'm telling at her with irate. I aid I've been calling since 9 am since then I've been talked rudely to, been placed on hold without warning ive even heard you argue with another patient in a 3 way that you accidently did. Told her the symptoms my daughter has been having after surgery and she does please hold so I can tell the Dr I said no I would like to speak to him myself she told me I couldn't because he was in surgery I asked her how the hell would she asked the Dr then? She couldn't answer I said I'm not going to be put on hold unless I'm holding for the Dr she put me on hold anyways to go look online on what to do. She came back told me to give her tynelol or motrane (however it's spelled) I aid I have been if you would stop looking online and let me talk to the Dr since you clearly don't know what your talking about my questions would be answered correctly. She goes well he's not here he's in the or I can take your number then I gave it to her and she goes oh well I highly doubt he'll call you back. Later that day (today Oct 20th) the hospital called me where my daughter had the surgery. Asked how my baby was doing so I told her she's not eating she won't drink juice I've cream not even broth has been complaining about major pain not only in her ears but her stomach as well. Now the nurse did a better job from the hospital answering my questions and making me at ease then the office did she to even tried to call Dr pollak office in Skokie and received the Dame attitude that I've gotten. She told me if worse case scenerio just take your daughter to your nearest emergency room if she doesn't get any better and suggested that my daughter stayed home from school another day just to keep a close eye on her. I don't think I'll go back to that office. I pray to have a different doctor that has better staffing to work on my daughter. But to be honest I didn't have an issue with Dr pollak himself. We will see tho because I will be getting a second opinion on his work just to be safe, from the after surgery experience. I have suffered from tonsillitis for over a year and when I went to see Dr. Pollack he told me that my tonsils were swollen, but fine. I told him I was having trouble breathing when I was sleeping at night because of how large my tonsils had gotten and he tried telling me that it was because I was over weight and I probably had sleep apnea. I was in his office for maybe 5 minutes and he acted like he really didn't care. I also have state provided insurance and there was a problem with that as well. It was obvious he didn't want to deal with me because of my insurance. I ended up having to have my tonsils removed by a different doctor and he told me they were so infected that they should've been removed months earlier. If you are on the state insurance and are going to him because he takes your insurance, don't go. Take the time to find a different doctor. His office staff was also very unpleasant to deal with and the building that his office is in is old and outdated. It was probably the worst experience I've ever had. Dr. Pollak refused to provide any services until I paid in cash in advance and later his office issued additional claim for the same consultation not even sent me a bill. Three months later I was informed that they sent my case to collectors. Unprofessional attitude, trying to get maximum money from patients and inability to provide related information that's how I can summarize my experience with him. Wouldn't recommend him at all.
