Dr. Mark Shukhman

I've seen Dr. Shukhman 2x's now, both times were very pleasant. I enjoy the fact that he doesn't push meds. He talks about eating better, getting certain vitamins in, and also other options for medication. A doctor that treats the whole patient. I sincerely appreciate his knowledge and suggestions.

I am so lucky to have found MR. TIM MORRILL, RN. He is better than any psychiatrist! Mr. Morrill works directly with Dr. Shukman. He is extremely knowledgeable about the psych meds. He also has helped me with finding natural supplements to improve mood, sleep, etc. TIM MORRILL, RN, is a very kind, compassionate professional. He is a great asset to this practice! Bev Frank

Horrible. I’ve never experienced so much difficulty in communication between the doctor, the office, and the client/patient. This office certainly does not take patient care seriously and cannot be relied upon to simply get your prescriptions to the pharmacy, or respond to you in a timely manner. Dr. Mark Shukhman is great. He is easy to talk to and very helpful. He provided me with new insight, understanding of conditions, and he has a friendly attitude/approach. I highly recommend reaching out to him.

I didn't even have a visit. I thought I would have one. I was going to fill out a new patients form so they have my info and insurance and anything else. I was prepared and had everything I needed to see him. But was told at the end that he is not seeing anymore patients. If he is not seeing anymore patients, why wasn't I informed in the first place? I feel he let me down, confused and not taken seriously. I wouldn't recommend him because he didn't even give me a chance to get help I needed in the first place. If he isn't seeing anyone new and I was told this in the first place, I could of found someone else.

I couldn't even schedule an initial appointment. The office staff didn't speak English well enough to understand what I was asking them. They called me back about my "upcoming appointment", which I never scheduled and my "follow-up appointment"!! I'll never deal with them again.

My mom is in her 80’s and her previous psychiatrist is retiring. So this doctors office was recommended to her - but unfortunately they have been impossible to reach on the phone and speak with, they have failed to return messages and they will only text or email me to tell me she must fill out lengthy electronic forms on a computer which she does not know how to do - so I tried to do for her - but had questions and again after several attempts to reach them multiple days during working hours they keep insisting they will only speak to us after forms are electronically completed. I left messages if they could have a person assist my mom over the phone and no reply by them. They keep blaming Covid as to why they will not communicate which makes zero sense - we are not looking to go visit them now, although all other doctors are safely seeing patients. All we wanted was kindness and understanding for someone who’s very old and needed some support. Psychology is the Understanding of Human Behavior - which has so much irony as this office doesn’t understand nor will communicate human to human. A good psychiatrist is one with a holistic approach that doesn't just focus on your brain in the abstract but also on how it interacts with your body. If you're looking for someone who will just write you a script and leave without helping you understand why and how your body is acting the way it is then this isn't the psychiatrist for you. Dr. Shukhman is one of the rare psychiatrists that actually listens and collaborates with you. He is well informed of cutting edge practices in psychiatry. He also will explain anything I have a question about thoroughly.

I honestly owe Dr. Shukhman more than I could ever repay him. I reached a point where I was desperate enough to try just one more psychiatrist, and I am so glad I did. Dr. Shukhman cares about your whole body and how that relates to your mental health, and because of that he is SO knowledgeable. He was able to talk to me for a few minutes and list every weird symptom I have, without me even telling him. I've been seeing Dr. Shukhman for a few months now and have been very satisfied with the experience. He has been patient in answer my myriad of questions and walked through medical details I was unaware of in a manner that was easy to understand.

This guys entire practice is just a front for pill pushing! My son who has a drug problem, overdosed while seeing a physicians assistant from his practice and almost died. I called and explained that my son was an addict and should no longer get prescribed meds but he continues to prescribe sleeping pills and adderall to my son. The therapist that my son sees told me he should be in jail for prescribing to someone who is an addict!

Dr. Shukham is an excellent Phychiatrist. He's a good listener and very experienced in his field.

I have never seen a psychiatrist before having made a telehealth appointment with Dr. Shukhman. I have always had a negative mindset towards prescription medicine, but was desperate for help. Struggling with a divorce, insomnia, alcoholism, PMDD, depression and mood swings, I thought it was time to try something new. I am a healthy eater despite the alcohol issue, and felt like a hypocrite living this "organic lifestyle" and would turn to the bottle to shut my mind off. Dr. Shukham was very kind, understanding and has a great sense of humor and listens very well. After a couple if weeks of being on the prescriptions he gave me I felt like a new woman. Sleeping 8 hours all the way through the night was a first for me in more than 15 years. My brain can process information slower and I don't feel as overwhelmed and worried about haunting thoughts. I no longer need alcohol to "numb" and gave lost 8 lbs as well. Highly recommend Dr. Shukham.

After moving across the country to reside in Illinois finding a psychiatrist to continue my treatment wasn’t easy. From my very first visit with Dr. Shukhman I finally felt safe and secure. He’s been with the greatest gratitude, always listening , observant, professional , intuitive and one of the most caring and straight up Person/psychiatrists. He also understands the word empathy which many mistake the definition fir sympathy. Perhaps it’s his ability to know empathy is what makes him one of the greatest Doctors I’ve ever known. Beware! This doctor is a scammer. He called me for 20 minutes didn’t even get a full hour visit. He prescribed me a medication for anxiety that made me paranoid anxious and sick. When I tried to get a hold of him he never called back for weeks. Doesn’t seem like he cares about his patients at all, he just care about money. I am reporting him for fraud to my back because he scammed me. I’ve never had such a horrible experience.

This is a review of the office. I couldn't make the first appointment. They called and told me I would have to pay $50 for the missed appointment. How are they going to try to charge someone without knowing the policies? Thats like giving people a parking ticket when there are no signs. if the office is trying to make money like that, then I have to question the whole integrity of the office. He is ok because he easily prescribes what you need BUT some of his personal suggestion prescriptions are of questionable value. For example he was giving me vicodins for my depression but as if he didnt know this vicodins contain acetaminophen which caused me severe liver problems. He should educate himself better and try other opiates for depression that do not contain this toxic chemical. I had a pretty poor experience with Dr. Shukhman. This was my first time visiting a psychiatrist so I did not know what to expect, but Dr. Shukhman did not spend a lot of time listening to me and wrote me off as a "stressed out college student." Worst of all, he tried to make a joke after I described symptoms such as as suicidal ideation. I felt extremely uncomfortable and would not recommend Dr. Shukhman.

After a lifetime of seeing doctor after doctor for both physical and mental health issues and receiving no relief due to their cookie cutter approach to healthcare, I stumbled upon a paper written by Dr. Shukhman regarding the use of LDN for mental health issues. I live out of state, but his office was willing to set up a phone consultation. He called me on a SATURDAY, and spoke with me for over an hour. He is brilliant. He approached me as an individual and not just another number. Bless you.

Thanks to the honest, caring professional Dr. Shukman, I am alive and well. He helped to wean me off of the dangerous mind-altering meds, especially that wicked Klonopin prescribed to me by by a previous Psychiatrist who did NOT explain the risks involved and link to suicides. I had suffered the Akathisia so common to benzo usage and nearly ended my life because I could literally not sleep nor stop motor movements physically for weeks due to the non-disclosed effects of the benzos.

He didn't listen patiently. Dr. Shukhman Prescribed the wrong medication. He wasn't fluent in English.

To any negative reviews: you are nuts. This doctor is patient and is one of the top doctors in his field. He has been there for me and I credit him with helping to give me my life back. highly recommended.

I've been a patient for a long time. I drive a long way to see the doc. He is the absolute best. I'm so happy I found this guy. Saved my life.

Truly outstanding. I have been to several of the highest rated psychiatric care institutions in this country, yet have never made as much progress as I have with Dr. Shukhman. His knowledge of psychopharmacology is unparalleled. His persistence and encouragement have helped me turn my life around!

The most dedicated and effective psychiatrist I've seen. He sticks with you and keeps trying medications until he finds the ones that work. Very knowledgeable and not afraid to try different approaches until he is able to bring you relief.

I have been a patient of Dr. Shukhman for several years. He has always been a very caring and concerned doctor. He is very knowledgeable about any questions I have about the latest trends in Psychiatry. The doctor is always on time for my appointments and ready to listen. He has a great sense of humor and seems to be such a kind person. I have witnessed Dr's patients exiting his office with him, laughing and smiling. It's obvious he has a great relationship with his patients. HE'S A GREAT DR!

Quick diagnosis and prescription. Very little medical knowledge. Zero attention to my needs. You can tell that his business and his office are unorganized. Even a member of his staff admitted this upon my visit to his office.
